Whatever the wife and husband decide they want it to be.
You are supposed to make each other happy, so if traditional (he works, she has babies) relations is what you want, great!
Some wives work and their husbands stay home.
Some tie each other up. Some read poetry. Some fight like crazy. Some are kind and thoughtful.
You get to make it up. You decide.

Not many of those who have answered so far know enough to tell you the answer to your question. I would rather go back through Vietnam. Well, not really. After 35 years, the only complaint that I have is that my mother in law lives here also and that is a veritable pain int he ***. I have two nice, well respected children, one a college professor and the other works on auto glass installs - and the glass installer makes more than the professor.
All 35 years have been with the same woman

The actual relationship between a wife and a husband is to bring forth a new life. To have children and live together as one.

They can get nasty without fear of getting caught. They can do things on the furniture, and no one will reprimand them, especially if no one lives below them.
We had people living below us one time, and they set their kitchen on fire, and scared us really bad. In such cases the actual relation between a husband and wife is to hold each others hands and run like hell.

The actual relationship is the same as it has always been throughout history. Marriage is a legal contract that combines the property of the two individuals into a mutual entity. That's what marriage has always been about, the merger of property. That is why women came with dowries, their fathers pledged a part of their estate to the groom and his family. Only recently has the concept of marriage for "love" and "companionship" been endorsed. Many parts of the world still have arranged marriges. That's why divorces are still so messy and one of the spouses has to pay alimony. Marriage has always ACTUALLY been about property acquisition and tax loopholes. Don't listen to all of these altuistics who spout crap about soul mates and whatnot.

When God made Eve, He made her from Adam's ribs not from his head, so that she can sit on top of him or not from his feet so that he can stamp her, but from his ribs which is under his arm so that he can hug her and love her and be with her and carry her,,,,,i think that's a relationship between a husband and wife....compatibility
