first, forget about ebay...you shouldn't buy a digital camera there. i'd say pay attention to the weekly specials/fliers from stores like compusa or circuit city and so on

if you dont need the camera right away then wait until the day after thanksgiving (black friday) and you'll find really good sales (hey it's only a month or so away)

what kind of camera? depends on your budget, but try to get anything above 3MP (and i'm being very modest here because you should consider 6MP and above)

and if possible, try to stay away from Olympus and Sony cameras...they use different kinds of memory card (proprietary memory) and therefore they're more expensive (just recommending that since you don't want to spend a lot of money). try to stick to cameras that use sd or mini sd memory cards...those cards are generally cheaper because many manufacturers make them...

First you need to go to WIndows XP PC. As for the digital camera Nikon would be the one to look at first, it is slightly more than a Sony or a Canon with the same features and specs but they have better lenses. I have a Nikon for 3 years now and am very pleased with it. For posting pictures on websites you will not need any more than 2 mega pixels, do not spend extra on 3 or more mega pixels. Even when you print the pictures on paper 2 mega pixels gives you a good 4X6 prints.

Since Win 98 is no longer supported by Microsoft, ditching it is not a bad idea, even though I do like that O.S.. A good way to decide which camera you should get is to get the one with the most "Mega-pixels" as you can afford. 5.0 Mega-pixels run about $150 and the pictures that you take with them can be enlarged to 8"x10" with no distortion. Stick with major name cameras, Kodak, Fuji, Nikon, etc. for quality reasons. I have a Fuji Film 5.0 Mp.

2 things: ditch Win98, that's a nightmare. second: Nikon digital cameras are the best.
