What type of media would be most appropriate for the 50 administrative offices? At what speed would it operate? How does this relate to the speed of the backbone?

Arctic University is opening a new satellite
location and it has been decided that it will use a combination of Ethernet and wireless networks. The location will be composed of 4 computer labs, 20 classrooms, and 50 offices for administrative staff.

Ethernet for the labs and offices, wireless for the classrooms. Ethernet 100Mbit/sec, Wireless 54 Mbit/sec but its actual speed is very debatable, the backbone would be faster.

should do your own home work....

if you are talking about data xfere btw the systems, network no faster then 100 baseT as u dont need more throughput then that, maybe more at the server choke points. with wireless AP in the classrooms. The backbone from a sat location is almost no existant due to the single duplex state of satelite

this is a open ended question and is more asking you to evlauate what u whould consider to be effective for a mutli user environment, show that u have considered older techs for better marks

the perfect scenario would be wired and wireless, but if you have to pick one for the offices, i'd say wired (faster and more secure)

speed? it depends on the carrier system speed
