I don't believe you ever could ban pornography. As Americans, we have the right to free expression. Pornography is not something I care to view, but I do not have the right to prevent someone who does want to view it from viewing it. I also don't care to take pictures of my naked body for the viewing pleasure of others, (I woldn't call it pleasure either, if you could see me, you would know why), but on the other hand, I do not have the right to stop someone else from doing it. We are adults, we have certain rights. We cannot trample on those rights.
You do, on the other hand, have the right to change the laws regarding pornography. For instance, gather some signatures, you will want names and address as well, go to your congressman, and try to get pornography websites to clearly state what they are, before showing the pornography. Require that only those who are over the legal age prove this age upon entering the site. (Be creative in finding ways this can be done, for instance, a valid credit card as well as matching secret information based on that card). Find ways to prohibit ANYONE under the legal age from seeing it. Besides that, turn a blind eye. Pornography is here to stay. If you don't like it, don't view it. But don't try and prevent those who have the wish and the legal right from doing so.
Point to ponder: I went on WebMD today to view pictures of the chicken pox virus because my daughter has a rash I want to "diagnosis". It took a minute, but I was finally able to view pictures. I was also able to view, on WebMd, pictures of naked women, children (thankfully with genitals covered) and naked men, including full frontage views of the genital area. As I am a mature adult, these pictures did not serve any purpose to me other than being able to view the rash itself, but sick minded individuals could use those pictures to really "get off". Those interested in Porn will find Porn in every way possible. Let them view that which is healthy and legal, and hurts no one. Otherwise, be wary of the avenues they take in the future without porn on the web. Remember peeping toms?
