Okay, this is a very difficult thing to explain, but I'll try my best! I have bad seasonal allergies, so I can definitely tell the difference, but they are really very similar, so that's why it's hard for me to explain. When my allergies are flaring up, I don't have a runny nose like I do when I'm getting sick, but I do sneeze CONSTANTLY - over and over and over again. My nose itches and I have a tickle in the back of my throat. I don't have a cough or a sore throat, or anything else that usually suggests a sickness. My eyes get very watery and itchy as well, and I get a slight headache. I hope this helps!! If not, you may have to see a doctor to find out which one is plaguing you. I know it's a pain, but they really are so similar that it's hard for someone who doesn't have a medial degree to tell the difference! Good luck you two!

A cold usually lasts from 7-10 days whereas allergies are chronic and recurrent.

If your nasal mucus is green your sick. If it is yellow you probablly are experiencing a reaction to a allergen.
