Any shoe needs socks to be worn with it, unless it's sandals or flip flops.
Otherwise, your feet will stink and so will your shoes.

I have found that it is alright to go either way. When I wear capris, i usually don't wear socks with my Vans, but it's alright because my feet don't sweat or anything inside the shoes. However, when I wear jeans, I usually do wear socks.

I have seen with and without socks and both looked fine. I just got a pair that looks like the laces are missing but they stay on great, in olive. Enjoy those Vans!!

depending on your style I'd go with either really low socks, or some calf-length ones
