What I basically mean is, can he not sign up and just ignore the letter or what???

Some countries do not have a draft, some have mandatory service for everyone of a certain age.

There is NO MILITARY DRAFT in effect in the UNITED STATES. YOU WILL KNOW IF THERE EVER IS ONE. All males between the ages of 18 and 25 must sign up for SELECTIVE SERVICES, which includes being incorperated onto the roll log for a military draft, if one was to be started. Tell you friend to READ the letter, sound out all the words, or have a parent or teacher who can read it, do so.

It is a law that all men register wth the selective service when they turn 18. Go to the post office and register. No one is going to get drafted, but it is the duty of all American males. Be proud of it. At least all 18 year old don't automatically go into the military like they do in some countries.

There is no draft in the United States. Where is your friend located? Do they just want him to sign up for Selective Service? If so, he needs to do it.

It is a letter he has to answer to he can not ignore it. It is not from a recruiter and he will not be drafted but he does have to register its the law.

Your friend is probally getting ready to turn 18 or he is already. All males have to fill out a draft form when there 18. It's no big deal. I filled mine out and that was 10 years ago.

What country do you live in? Seriously there's no draft in the United States. Of course he can ignore the letter, it's probably just a recruitment letter. Who is it from?

There is no draft... Don't worry... It's just selective service.

it is the law to register for selected service when you reach 18. they will deny any school loans for college and they can arrest you and impose all kinds of fines. it takes two minutes tell him to sign up and relax. uncle SAM will not come get him unless we declare war.
