How soon will be fighting a war in Asia?

Who will get Korea? Japan? China? USA?

USA will not lead the way into an Asian war over Korea, unless and until they are willing to fight China and possibly Russia. Some other country may make a pre-emptive strike, but it will not be either South Korea, or a direct action by China. China nor South Korea want a war there, because of all the refugees.

However, when the current dictator of North Korea is deposed by internal forces, the ensuing power grab will result in an enhanced multinational military presence on the land of South Korea, lead by some other country than the USA.

Presently, the leading contenders for a coup are the hardliners in Kim's own party. Kim's children are even less competent than he is. Most likely, Kim will either be killed by his own people, or will be forced into a life of exile.


Japan might initiate a war. Much has been going on there that doesn't make the news.

Korea will either reunify with the South, fully staffed with UN peacekeepers, or China will take North Korea, in the form of a stabilizing force. China doesn't want North Korea, but also doesn't want them to export their problems to China.

By the way, there is still a war in Asia in Afghanistan. And that doesn't count many other smaller wars and skirmishes and border disputes. Many view the Kashmir conflict as a war, but that is only because India hasn't moved with the force they can move with. If India does make a serious effort to secure Kashmir, it will be over within a couple of months.
