The whole theory of an upside down Christmas tree is that the ornaments hang freely. If It wasn't so wrong for a tree be upside down I'd like the idea.

The first time I ever saw an upside down Christmas Tree was also the first time I walked into an OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE (back in 1998). There was one hanging from the ceiling, and everyone who asked "why is it upside down" was told "It's because our owner (Paul Hogan) is from 'the land down under'". I was rolling every time I heard that!! Now.......just look how far they've come. Major chain -from a simple addition to ONE shopping mall. I'll always remember that cool tree!

Now I don't know about any of this grinch or fantasy stuff. I just love the stuff that makes me feel all 'warm inside' and brings on a grin ...slight smile....BIG smile.....Belly Laughs. I just love to be Happy and Feel Great and SMILE. (((( GRIN )))) This "Happy" stuff seems to be slowly ' 'disappearing' ' (just watch news 30 min!) WE CAN _NOT_ **EVER** LET THAT HAPPEN!!

Ha! I actually follwed the links of one of the posters here. Pretty cool. It brings into question though 2 things: Do australians like being sterotyped this way as doing evrything upside down implying that they are somehow inferior to Americans since we have evyrthing right side up or so it seems and
2)- Is it more likely for unconventional people to get one?

Yes I have and several of my friends have one. Some hang from the ceiling, some have a pole that sits on the ground but the wider end of the tree is at the top. They usually do not go from ceiling to floor but start about 4 feet off the ground, although I have seen some on the web that go floor to ceiling. (Boy I am chatty tonight, must be that coffee I had earlier)

Yes. Every year my drunken father would beat up my mother and I on Christmas eve, and then turn the tree upside down. I still tremble when Christmas approaches, and wake up screaming on Christmas morning.

Yes, years ago they hung one in the gift store I worked at. It was supposed to be all the rage. It hung from the ceiling and was supposed to be easier to shop from, but the truth is, most customers didn't like it. I didn't either. It's like hanging any symbol that means something to you upside down is kind of an insult.

Yes, and the first time I ever saw one, I thought it was pretty neat. The reason this couple had theirs up side down, hanging from a 2nd floor rafter was so that their 2 year old twins could not reach it. That was awesome.

Probably a lot of places, including many online vendors. Online search engine reveals that Target is supposed to sell them. That's without reading many of the search results at all. I know my local Ace Hardware sells them, because the guys were just bragging on their new display last weekend.

I've seen them in several different varieties (mounted on a pole by the point, hung from the ceiling, etc.) and I think they are ugly. There seems to me to be something fundamentally wrong about it.

Peace!
