Why do we say this, do we really mean it?

I sure do...every single time I talk to any member
of my extended family, or friends who are married
with kids. I learned long ago, that if you don't let people know you're thinking about them, they won't know.

Of course I mean it. I have done it many times when talking to a friend and then I tell them to say hi for me to the loved ones.

I say it a lot cuz i don't get to see so and so a lot so I want someone to tell so and so that I said hi even though I know that someone won't tell so and so that I said hi which really pisses me off when I tell someone to tell so and so THAT I SAID HI I want someone to tell so and so. But I eventually see so and so and I forget all about someone.

No, that's a stupid thing to say. I've never uttered that phrase in my life. I think people say this because they're overly friendly or just feel guilty about never seeing someone else. They say it to make it seem like they care about that person, but they really don't. You know that the message will never be relayed anyways.

Yeah, I say it, and yes, I mean it. Most of the time I say it so that the person knows I'm still thinking about them, without me calling and interrupting them.

I think it's just a formality, like just to show you are friendly. Most of the time if you really liked the person , you would say hi yourself.

Of course we do. Well.........we should. If I see someone that sees someone I never get to see........sure I ask them to tell so-and-so I said hi! And I usually follow up with a phone call or an email :)

I tell my hubby to say it to friends of ours when he goes to see them, and I always mean it when I say it....my fault lies on the other end of that statement - if someone asks me to "tell so-and-so I said hi" - I usually forget to do it

The real question is, do the people actually tell so-and-so that you said hi...?

I do say it, and I really mean it.It's just a way of letting someone know that we think about them.
