It is a natural response to a reoccurring problem. Think about it, whenever someone is constantly put down there can be several different responses. The person could a) get down on themselves and believe that they are in fact worthless, b) get so depressed that they stop caring about life, or c) seek to prove to everyone that they are not worthless but a in fact better than you.
Black people were told that they were worthless for centuries. If you look at the black population, you will see all three categories at work.

the drive to survive; the belief that you can make an omelette out of broken eggs. to believe in you when all others doubt. a very powerful and admirable attribute.

they don't think they are the best they just have a confidence about them. no matter how rich or poor they have confidence that they can take your white women.
