McGovern Warning - Bush Plans on Iran
----*Press Release About NJ Peace Action's 49th Annual Soup Luncheon

Despite the continuing deterioration of the U.S. position in the war in Iraq, it appears that the Bush administration may be preparing for a U.S. attack on Iran, and Ray McGovern thinks that the current deployment of U.S. military ships to the Persian Gulf just off Iran’s coast are serious indicators of the administration’s intent. McGovern, a twenty-seven-year veteran of the CIA who resigned in protest over what he said were Bush Administration pressures to exaggerate the threat posed by Iraq, will be the keynote speaker at New Jersey Peace Action’s 49th annual Soup Luncheon, to be held November 11th, from 11:45am until 4:00pm at Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey. He and other intelligence agency critics have formed a group called Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, an organization dedicated to exposing what these former Intelligence professionals believe to be the mishandling of important intelligence, particularly concerning the war in Iraq.

The CIA as well as many other government agencies are filled with career bureaucrats many of whom are politically appointed and placed. These bureaucrats are unfortunately split as much as the nation into conservative and liberal blocks. As one current administration replaces personel the previous staff sees its power base as waning.... it would be interesting to see how many including McGovern were initially part of which prior administrations.

Oh this goes on and on.... now we should abandon Israel because that's Iran's main goal..."not us". Pity the poor, last World War II Vet on his deathbed, wondering why did he ever bother to do anything about Adolph Hitler......

This is purely political disagreement, as I'm sure there are many in the CIA who disagree with Mcgovern. As to the words of the press release you copy,

"He and other intelligence agency critics"

What does that exactly mean? It gives NO criteria. "CRITICS" could mean 20% of people at Yahoo Answers. It could mean, moveon.org. It could mean the Socialist Workers Party. Hell, it could mean PETA or the Society for Humane Treatment for Saddim Hussein....

By the way, twenty-seven years ago would place Mcgovern as part of the CARTER Administration. Now there was an era of successful foreign and domestic policy.

Oh a last addition, as to "Give Peace A Chance" do any others not feel secure putting important policies into the hands of a bed-wetting doped over songwriter of the 1960's.... Lennon... Lenin... they were both pathetic. For that matter Robin Williams is as well... try not to be so obvious, Morkie.... oh yes, Hollywood and the media are totally unbiased.

Oh, on and on it goes, now we can leave Israel to its fate because Iran is bent on their annihilation and "not us". Pity the lone last Veteran of World War II on his deathbed wondering just what was the point of his watching men of his unit bloddied and maimed to stop Adolph Hitler... blow out the flame soldier, and worry not, may Someone better than your countrymen remember what you did.

I certainly hope not and believe that he'll sek UN Backing before anything else occurs and Iran is not a weak country with no strong allies like Iraq---invade Iran and you have to deal with Syria and most of the other Muslim countries and Bush knows presently The US is not prepared for this kind of suicidal involvement

No, I highly doubt we will go to Iran. We don't currently have the manpower to be in both Iran and Iraq and Iraq is the place we have to stay b/c of the instability there. Iran is more concerned with nuking Isreal, not us. So I strategically we can't do it and politically I think there would be too much backlash from both Republicans and Democrats if we go to war somewhere else, especially with the deficit we are in.

there'll be no nuclear warfare, it incredibly is going to all be common, first recon/spec ops disabling radar/sam/aa, then are available in our warring parties, then the marines, and right here comes the army, even nonetheless, with troop numbers so low, no draft, we've already sent out national shield remote places, so there is going national protection, in line with risk we are able to get a pair of boy scouts to run this element. assume a warfare of harsh words and extra and extra annoyed muslim extremists that hitch the 1st holiday to our new battleground, Iraq. venture achieved!

Sounds good. Why don't you invite Scott Ritter as a speaker? I'm sure he has a lot to say about these things.
