How'd you like it if the government spied on you so you couldn't cushion your taxes a little? Maybe people shouldn't sin or break laws and rules, but the choice to do so is very important. Spying is like making it so that when you make a law, you also make it impossible for someone to break the law. The police are talking about installing speed logger GPS systems in all new cars so that when you get pulled over, the cop can download everytime you've sped or run a stop sign in the past 3 months and write you a ticket for every one of them. Do you think that's right? I don't.
Why don't you try confronting them about what it is you think they're doing. If you think they'll just lie to you, out smart them into confessing one way or another.
How many times have you thought to yourself how easy it was to get away with stuff back in the 60's and 70's, but now it's like they watch your every move. Think twice about how that feels.
Ok, now, you've also got to know that spying is illegal if you don't inform the person or have a warrant. But it is your network (apparently) so you have the right to "watch the network". But the moment you install cameras, you're breaking the law.
One thing you can do is have a networking guy come in and slpit the computer's displays into 2 separate signals and have that second signal sent to a router of some sort that you could switch between their computers and yours. That would be as real time as it could be, but you would see keystrokes that don't leave text on the screen.

OK, this is a touchy subject what with the wiretap stuff going down and all, but I will tell you how on the condition that you read this whole response, and just to be sure I will sparsedly distribute the instructions during my lecture ;) . You as a parent obviously must be able to do your job as an educator, guardian, and friend. The eternal question you must ask yourself when you step up to an act like this is "What will this do to my child?" A program called realvnc, or tightvnc (either will work) if installed on your kids computer, can let you see the desktop while they are browsing.
So you think about it...What will this do? It will allow you to keep tabs on their suspicious behavior firstly (that's the point anyways), it will allow you the ability to make sure they aren't getting exposed to things they shouldn't deal with for many years, or atleast intervine as best as you can. But what happens WHEN they do something, because they will. Of course they will they are teenagers and are attracted to taboo because it's taboo. And when you confront them, what then? You will have bred mistrust in you. A shocking epiphany that "Big Brother" does watch you, that they can't trust you with things, and that life lesson will harden them and breed friction in your relationships and the relationships of their future close relationships. You must install the server on their computer and the client on yours. When you set it up you pretty much just need to set a password. They won't know you are viewing their desktop as long as you don't move the mouse or type anything as you will have complete control of their computer if you do. Your mouse movements would trump any guestures he made, for example. You also need to hide the client icon on their computer. It will be in the lower right hand corner. There are task bar options you can set by right clicking and going to properties. Should be able to hide it in there. Now you must apply the golden rule. Do you know why it's called the golden rule? Because it can be applied in every situation to everybody. Do unto others as your would have them do unto you.

i got a idea, sit behind them wherever they go for awhile, and they'll run away from home because they have no privacy. then you won't have to worry about them. why don't you sit them down and talk to them about it?
