My most favorite.. by far is
the Onion!!!!!
It's a satire newspaper that makes fun of anything ridiculous in this world.
The best part is, it's online so you could read it from down under!

Stars and Stripes. This newspaper is available to anyone who is serving overseas in Europe and Asia within the United States Military. It does not politicize anything. It gives you the straight facts. In a way it is like Fox News Channel here in the USA. They report, you decide. The only thing the US Military has to do with it is that it makes sure there is nothing that is slanderous to anyone. It is a print media that is a pure news publication. They pull no punches and they do not hide anything.

Christian Science Monitor. Don't be fooled by the name. It is one of the most objective, best-reported newspapers in the world. The Christian Science church puts it out, but they only run a half-page meditation on the next-to-last page of the print edition. No attempt to convert the reader. They honestly believe that people need objective information.

The Mt.Carmel Daily Register. It has local and national news. i like the layout of the paper. It is a small town paper but very organized. Also, if you don't know anyone in town, just read the paper and you will know everyone. Also, some of the journalist are really talented writers. It also has a police blotter so you always know who got in trouble for what. It lists marriages and divorces, too. They also have their own website.

The Coastal Post out of Bolinas, CA. It's an independent, left leaning monthly paper one quarter of which is letters to the editor. And they don't edit the letters, I've written a couple dozen and always print exactly what I wrote.

You are lucky you are in Australia. You may get real news there.
We just get "stories" that up the ratings and sales and push popular propaganda. Hard to weed out the truth from all the crap that's out there.
OK, I'm rambling, and ranting.
my answer: no favorite.
