Long story, now I have a pet garden spider. What should I feed it? Do the bugs have to be fresh? Is there anything they eat besides bugs?

Find a pet store that sells live crickets. The spider will kill the cricket with it's venom and suck the juices from it's body.

Your pet garden spider (unless she is now in captivity) should be very adept at getting her own food. But she would need fresh alive bugs, since it is their bodily fluids that she sucks dry while they are still alive...

The only food to give is insects. Let the insects be alive. Some spiders are egoistic. No, really. They prefer to kill their own prey.

The bugs have to be alive. By the way, I'm not sure if you should keep it in captivity or not.
