I've searched a lot of sites but can't seem to find the coolest one. I'd like to hear your ideas. I'd like to decorate one for work that will be in the public eye and want the little ones as well as old ones to be in awe of what they see.

Make a faux stained glass pumpkin. Get an assortment of colored tissue paper and tear into large irregular pieces and decoupage them on a clean, sanded smooth pumpkin. Once the pumpkin is covered with the overlapping pieces of colored paper it should look a bit like stained glass. For added effect, draw random patterns, outlining the pieces of tissue with black dimensional fabric paint after the decoupage medium has dried completely. This will mimic the leading in stained glass windows. Then paint the stem with gold leaf size and let dry for about 20 minutes until tacky and apply imitation gold leaf. This touch of gold will make the pumpkin look more like a glass sculpture and adds that Ahhh touch you are looking for.

You could go to the grocery store and look for the baby vegetables ,many fo them sell. Use these to make the features on the pumpkin, such as broccoli for hair, carrot for a nose and large, flat mushrooms for the ears. The vegetables would be connected with round toothpicks, using as many as needed for support. Slicing a large radish in half, pealing the red off the bottom half of each piece, could make the eyes (with red eyelids) Use your imagination and you'll come up with other ideas, I'm sure.

I saw a demonstration on Martha Stewart this week using the vegetables instead of carving. Check out Marthastewart.com as she said they were on her site. Sorry the site is down right now so I can't find the exact page for you. GOOD LUCK!

Try the Better Homes & Gardens magazine website. They have lots of ideas and have free stencils you can download, as well as a "build your own stencil" application!
