*consultant

Dream on. The first answer is incorrect. First to be an consultant you first have to be a salesman and sell the job. Then you have to do the research and present your recommendations and do it all in a timely manner which means you might have to work around the clock. Then you have to be available when the client needs you not when you feel like working. Also the work generally comes in waves with multiple clients making demands at the same time. Or no clients, which means you have to get out and sell, which is working without pay.

Owning a business is even worse. If you try to just kick back and let your hired help run it you probably won't be in business very long. You have to serve your customers, which may mean you need to be at the business when you rather be at the ball game or on the golf course.

Sales provides the best life style, your hours are more flexible and generally you can get away on the weekends. But it's been accurately described as either the easiest low paying job or the hardest and best paying job you can have.

business owner, not all businesses would be that way but many if you do the work in the begining you can sit back and reap the rewards only having to work occasionally.
