DEMOCRAT
A Democrat at heart basically believes in the perfectability of mankind through his institutions. If there's a human problem, set up an institution that will help with that. Democrats also believe it is fair to rob from Peter to pay Paul, also known as "wealth transfer" or "entitlements" through Social Security (which is bankrupt), Medicare (which is so bankrupt it could bankrupt the USA if it isn't "sunsetted"), and welfare payments to the poor.
Classic example of the Democratic party in action: in 1996, greedily seeking re-election, Bill Clinton signed a welfare reform bill that limits welfare payments to 5 years for any particular individual. Independent voters and many suburban moderate republicans loved it and, by signing it, Clinton guaranteed himself re-election over his opponent, Bob Dole. EVER SINCE, the Democratic party has hated this and fought it, in spite of the fact that the program is a smashing success and is being widely copied, now, by European governments. My point? Clinton wisely took power AWAY from an institution seeking perfectability of man through "transfer payments," which helps more people i nthe long run but breaks the Democrat's defining civil religion of the perfectability of man through his institutions.
A REPUBLICAN
I'm sorry, your flight has been rescheduled. From its inception in the 1850's to the end of the Reagan presidency in 1989, the republicans stood for small, responsible, fiscally sound (meaning balanced budgets, a hard currency and NO or MINIMUM transfer payments)government coupled with a strong defense to keep America OUT OF WARS. The Republicans were the business and anti-war party (they were against WW1. Against foreign entanglement and the League of Nations. Against WW2 until Pearl Harbor. Some were against setting up the CIA in 1947. From 1900 to 1989 every major military action was initiated by Democrats. The holy book of the pre-1990 republicans was Barry Goldwater's 1960 "Conscience of a Conservative" -- still worth reading and still a political bible to many independent voters.
That republican party is dead. read about it in history books, but it is not the same anymore, no matter what people say. In other words, when a republican politican talks about Eisenhower or Reagan today --that hack is lying to you. Period. Believe it.
THE MODERN REPUBLICAN PARTY (1992 to present): This is the party that believes government is the instrument of bringing about religious utopia. Government serves to make America a more Christian nation (in a fundamentalist sense) and to use its foreign policy to create the crises that will bring about the Second Coming and ultimately a human utopia headed by Christ after his return to earth. So this is the party of abortion prohibition, school vouchers and home schooling, school prayer, mixing religion with public institutions, burning down the welfare state because it isn't in the bible, and, particularly, authoritarian central goverment.
To be a modern Republican is to loyally serve authority and, for some, to be ambitious about becoming a leader who has authority over others. To a modern republican, equality in housing or education or voting access or employment is a parasitic, unbiblical concept. Equality is an irrelevant, perhaps satanic notion having nothing to do wtih public life because inequality always existed, always will and there's nothing we can do about it. A woman's womb is GOVERNMENT PROPERTY to be used to make more loyal Americans who worship authority. Federal land, including National Forests and National Parks, is held in trust to be used by the local people (not as an indefinite, permanent wilderness --we don't need that -- Jesus will provide us with the quality of land we need when He comes back).
Need help? Pray. Need better schools? Get together with people from your church and home school the children.
CONCLUSION: I've done everything in this posting accurately. The two parties are as ugly and as crazy as I've stated that they are. I've been watching them and reading the newspapers every day since I was a small boy in 1959. There is no B.S. in this post.

If anyone answers, "Republicans are better. Democrats are better..." etc., don't listen to that. Republicans and Democrats are only different because of their political views. Democratic Party - One of the two major political parties in the United States; the Democrats. The origins of the Democrats are in the Democratic-Republican party, organized by Thomas Jefferson in the late eighteenth century; the first president elected simply as a Democrat was Andrew Jackson. Always strong in the South, the party was severely damaged by secession, the Civil War, and Reconstruction, and did not produce a winning presidential candidate between 1861 and 1885, when Grover Cleveland was elected. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, in contrast to the Republicans, the Democrats tended to be the party of the South and West, opposed to the interests of business and the Northeast. Woodrow Wilson, the next Democratic president, was part of the Progressive movement. In the period of the New Deal, in the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Democratic party reached enormous strength among labor union members, minority groups, and middle-income people. Republican Party - One of the two major political parties in the United States. The party began in 1854 (see under “American History to 1865”); Abraham Lincoln, elected in 1860, was the first Republican president. During Reconstruction, many Republicans were eager to punish the South for its former slaveholding and for its secession from the United States. The northern Republicans, for example, supported carpetbaggers in southern governments. After Reconstruction, the Republicans favored a high protective tariff and were generally considered the defenders of northeastern and business interests. The party supported the Spanish-American War and the expansion of United States territory overseas. Some Republicans were part of the Progressive movement of the early twentieth century. In the 1920s, the party reestablished its reputation for supporting business and as being wary of any expansion of the place of government in national life. This characterization is still a reasonably accurate, if simplistic, description of basic Republican views.

When I was a Republican we all wore much better suits than most Dems because of the wonderful kickbacks we got from supporting special interests.
My bosses never seemed to care whether our kids would have air to breathe or even if they grew up at all.
They were all quite proud of being accomplished liars, and felt they deserved to cheat the public because they knew how.
Democrats are usually from "Grass Roots" ie., supported by everyone that busts his/her hump to support the wealthy.
Now that I'm one of the sweaty masses, things are much tougher. I work a lot harder and dress down.
However, I've kept my soul.
2) I was thinking about those poor christans that listened to the debate between Bush and Kerry. The Prince of Lies kept referring to Kerry as "the adversary" a Christan name for the devil.
This is almost funny because even though the bible states that we humans should have dominion, it definitely doesn't say that we have the right to destroy God's good earth!
GWB's party suckered all those good people with a lie about global warming, just so he could get elected.
But don't worry because none of these good people will ever get into heaven. The bible doesn't say, "Be stupid and multiply!"
The Earth is a test and the Christain right failed it!
For example, suppose on your resume you stated that because a competitor stroked your ego, you allowed him to destroy the good people that hired you and the company you worked for.even though you knew that you had injured many innocent lives.
Do you really think you'd ever work again?
This "flack" (and con men really call it that) is a smokescreen to steer us away from the real issues that affect our lives.
So if you're one of those good people that just blindly obeys because it feels good, just remember how you threw away our furture.

You have to divide each party into subgroups:
Democrats have communists, socialists, anarchists, liberals, and conservative Democrats.
Republicans have "moderates", conservatives, and the Religious Right.
Each issue depends on which group you are referring to. For example, all Democrats support more taxes on rich people. Republicans support low taxes to allow people to keep their own money.
Liberals want big government like in most of Europe. Note that socialist countries have no economy and no growth.
Conservatives want small government. They want government to defend the country, spend less, regulate less, etc.
What happens in politics is money rules and corrupts. Parties change power every so often because people get sick of the politics and not getting results.

If you are talking about the person, it's simply an ideology difference. The parties are basically split by liberal and conservative principals. Dem's mostly believe the government can cure all ills and spend money on social program were as the rep's are more individual minded and think the government should be more limited. The Dem's lean toward socialism and the rep's believe in capitol ism.
There are many, many more differences as each group has sub-groups that all have their own agenda.

Democrats are a combination of DINOS and socialists and communists.
Republicans are a combination of RINOS, Goldwater conservatives (libertarians), Regan conservatives, Evangelists, and free-enterprise capitalists.
I'm not really down on the major parties, not like Dr. Mike Savage is, but they do seem to be getting rather irrelevant. In that sense, if they were dealing with the stock market, they would not be a class A stock, they'd be a really diluted, low-earning mutual fund.

Nothing. Just the D and the R. They all think alike and are all fooling the American population.
The US Government has always been nothing but a lie.
Because, there are secret societies who really control the US and Europe. Do you really think our votes count? These 'elected officials' are elected by these secret societies. This voting thing is just a farce.

At this point it doesn't really matter because with only two partys in play, partisan politics will always interfere with the American people getting results from those they elect. We desperately need a multi-party system !

Democrats are considered liberal thinkers and Republicans are conservative thinkers.
Democrats believe that the government should provide everything and that everyone should rely solely on the government for everything. Republicans believe in the free-enterprise economic system, where everyone has equal opportunities to create their own wealth and possibilities.
On the subject of energy, Democrats believe in protecting the environment above all else, resulting in reliance on foreign energy sources. Republicans believe in self-sufficiency and the free-enterprise system to create as many domestic sources of energy as possible.
On the subject of regulation, Democrats believe in creating as much government centralization as possible. All businesses in all states must follow the same federal regulations across the board. Republicans want to end federal regulations and de-centralize the federal government in order to give more power to the state and local governments.
On the subject of government spending and taxes, Democrats want to increase taxes as much as possible in order to spend it on bigger government programs and laws. Republicans want to increase tax cuts in order for the people to spend it and create a better economy.
On the subject of health care, Democrats tend to vote for people choosing government health care through payroll taxes and government controls. Republicans tend to vote for freedom of choice for health care, with the intent of keeping competition high, prices fair, and quality consistent.
In essence, if you want the government to make all of your decisions for you, then the Democratic party is the best fit for you. If you want the freedom to make choices for yourself, then the Republican party is the best fit for you.
I hope this has enlightened you.
