Alot of people believe that the lighter you are the prettier you are,so they think dark skinned people are ugly, and you know in the entertainment business they are mostly about looks.

attempt viewing audience as an answer. If somebody won't take place properly on demonstrate screen, then that person should not be positioned on television. that's an identical reason that makeup is used. T.V. human beings prefer the audience to work out their actors. sometimes, darker pores and skin is utilized with make-as much as make the actor look greater advantageous onscreen. to three that's insulting and unacceptable. To others it rather is a factor of the corporate. yet another sturdy question, why are there so few elderly actors on television? looks like whilst they hit 50 and above they initiate disappearing from the demonstrate screen.

I hear ya man ! Most of the women I have dated, and now the woman I'm married to is dark skinned. There are a few in the movies. Most of them have long hair with fancy curly locks or straight. Hollywood needs to ask people what they think. Halle Berry had short hair for most of her career. But I tip my hat to people like Martin Laurence. He had two beautiful Black women in Big Momma's House 2. But you know, I remember a time when the only Black actresses (and most Black actors) were dark skinned. If Vanessa Williams, Aliyah, and Beyonce had not come out in music first, they probably wouldn't have gotten cast in anything.

A man in the early 70's once said for the news report who was covering a segment on sun bathing and why the oceans draw so many people to them year around in Southern California.
He said "that 3/4 of the world’s population is dark complicated and the rest were trying to be."
People do not want to be reminded that they do not look as good as those with more keratin in their skin cells to give them that “Beautiful Look” the so desire and crave.

If the media was directly proportionate to the population of the US, around 13-20% of the people should not be white or hispanic.

You haven't been watching the right channels. I see a lot of different races on TV all the time. In fact more non-white celebrities than there are white.

not sure I agree with you.
Oprah is on every weekday here.
Halle Berry stars in X-Men and 007 movie,
Thandie Newton, a total honey, starred in Mission Impossible
and there are numerous american sit-coms with canned laughter
(I hate it) that have dark skinned actresses.
the Mad Max movies....Murtagh's wife and daughter
is that enough for my two points?

nechelle nichols.
aka nyota uhura.
very dark, very beautiful.

Because America is still basically a white country. Thats why they still refer to everyone else as "ethnic", and exclude themselves from that catagory as if they are somehow above everyone else. Oh yeah, stupidity rocks.
