Why do people think chainsaw is real?
It is not......

Why are people freaked out by the exosist?
I laughed all the way thru and thought it was stupid. And I was raised Catholic,so should it not have bothered me more.

What freaked you out so much by these movies. (sceens or parts)

Texas Chainsaw Masacre is not real but alot of it is based on a real serial killer named Ed Gein. The reason the Exorcist was considered so freaky has to do more with when it was released. There were not alot of movies like that back then so by comparison it was really scary. These days people are just more desensitized.

First of all Exorcist freaked me out because I was about 14 years old when I saw it. And every body and the world know that if you believe God is real than the Devil has to be real too. I believe there is a God so I believe there is a Devil also.

It is not just the content of the film nor is it the music. It is how society responds to the affairs of the world at the time of release.
50's =U.S. vs. Russia (missle crisis) / alien monster movies
60's = vietnam / psychological horror Birds + Psycho
70's =fuel crisis & hostages / halloween + exocist
80's =Lybia / freddy and jason and chucky
90's = cold war end/ alot of remakes
2k's = Terrorism / Saw + Hostel
The worlds news is so graphic, it takes alot to scare the he77 out of us. So it takes Japanese story lines to do the job.

I was freaked by the scene in The Exorcist when her head started spinning and she was sitting on the bed. I guess because I believe that Satan has the power to do this to a person.

well....chainsaw is based on real events but so obviously not scary while watching it on tv or at the movies... i have never seen the exorcist, couldn't be bothered but someone made me watch the shining, and i fell asleep!!
i guess horror movies are an aquired taste, you like them or you don't but i would rather watch and older one than the new ones that have the gratuitous nudity and gore.
