speed = distance divided by time.

How much distance can you cover in a given amount of time? That's your speed.

Speed is the rate of change of distance moved by an object.
It is a scalar quantity, meaning that it has no direction to it.
SI unit: m/s

Do not confuse with velocity, which is the rate of change of displacement of an object. Velocity is a vector quantity, and has a direction. SI unit : m/s

Instantaneous speed is the speed of the object at a point of time, average speed is just the total distance divided by the total time.

Speed is the rate of change of distance with respect to time and is expressed as distance covered in unit time.

Speed is the rate of motion, or equivalently the rate of change of position, many times expressed as distance d moved per unit of time t.

Distance travelled (between 2 points) divided by the amount of time spent making the journey.

Note that, by this definitiion, if you start and stop in the same place, your speed is zero.

theres differnt definitions, one them is a drug another the mesure of velocity(speed of travel to time)

hey..speed is nothing but the magnitude of velocity....otherwise told to us as distance by time.....it is a scalar quantitiy...that is it has no direction ...

speed is a scalar quantity.. only have magnitude...doesn't need direction..

Good question.
Speed = rate
rate = cost.
cost = what you loose to get it.

therefore

speed is how much you get by how much you loose.
