Start Up time on a new Mac tends to be 3x faster then on a Windows-based PC. Linux is similar to PC on Start-Up, though faster when running.

Mac OVERALL
Linux WHILE RUNNING
Windows SLOWEST

It depends with the type of processor, amount of memory etc. Windows takes a while to load every time, and Mac is faster. Never tried Linux before...

It depends on the hardware configuration of the computer and the demands of the programs as well as the operating system being run.

It does depend on hardware. I'd guess Windows is slowest - but I only reboot about once a month, so I don't care.
