but no doubt people will miss the category and answer about the WALLET FULL OF CASH so maybe you did get it right

Yes I have and I did.
I was also taking my dog for a walk and saw a bunch of ID in the trash can and an empty wallet. Took it to the police knowing the person that had lost the wallet would be just as thankful for having her ID and her child's ID recovered.

Yes. I found a wallet with $1200 in it once and could have easily kept it. I turned it in. I don't know if the owner ever got it back, but I felt better having done the honest thing.

If I was sidewalking down the walk and eye-balled a cashful of wallet falling from the pants of someone's pocket I would holler, "Hey Buddy," your cashful is falling from your pants--you better waist at your bend before somebody wallets your pickup!"
It wouldn't be cool to pants someone else's wallet.

If there was an ID, I would try to locate the person, and return the whole cashful of wallet, but I would not go as far as turning it in to the cop shop. Otherwise, finders keepers losers weepers.
