i own a repair shop, and i do them for around 1200 that's parts labor and all,and they come with a guarantee on them also, and i use new pistons also i stay pretty busy on them from time to time,in all my years of doing them i have never had one go bad on me,,lucky huh,,anyway i always take my time on them, and i break all of them in before i deliver them to the customer, i usually drive them the first hundred miles or so and break them in,this way i know how there going to do,but that's a average price i guess on them, some people around here say that's too cheap, but i do alright on them, any way good luck i hope this help,s.

If you are looking for the most cost effective way to get it going again you might consider buying a remanufactured one [long block... comes with all the goodies] and have someone qualified put it in. rebuilding a motor now days is not a smart way to go... this prossess is quite labor intensive and tends to make huge gouges in bank accts. then again you may have a mechanic that you know and trust and might get an ok deal, but you can go to autozone and buy the rebuild book and tools to do the job and come close to the price including parts and end up with a decent running motor that you built your self...... wouldnt that be something to talk about! Have faith in your self and follow directions... you will succeed! My father gave me the same advice "Be Nike,Just Do It"

I have heard of some who do it for around 1500.00

I had a re manufactured engine put in one of my cars. It cost me about $1200. I only had problems with the engine. I had to have it replaced 3 times in a matter of 6 months. Thankfully it was still under warranty. But I spent alot of my time in the shop and without a car. My friend had his engine rebuilt from a local shop and he had no problems whatsoever.

roughly 1000$ if your lucky sometimes it can go up to 5000$ depending on how crooked of a mechanic you find
