The climate in Kentucky can range from below zero in the winter to above 100 in the height of summer. These extremes usually do not last long. It depends on where you live. In the east(Mountains) winter can be severe in the west and south summers can be hot.I'd say by and large temps average ranging 25-95 in an average year Humidity can be a problem because there are so many lakes and rivers. Tomato season. plant in late April, early May harvest late June and later.

I live in Northern Kentucky but have traveled most of the state. We have a very temperate climate. Winters can have temperatures go below zero (although in my area it typically doesn't get that cold) -- and we are often immobilize for a day or more from heavy snow fall. Fall and Spring are typically very nice with temperatures between 60 and 75 -- the leaves change in the fall and the flowers bloom in the spring. Summers typically have temperatures in the 80s to low 90s -- but of course it varies. Kentucky doesn't have a series tornado problem -- but when they do occur it's in a warm weather month. Late Spring through Early Summer -- but if we have an unusually warm month outside of that frame it's possible.

i live in the foothills of nc. i would guess that the climate should be quite similar. very warm and sometimes hot in the summer. the winters are usually mild but everybody is always looking for that big snow! i think tornado season starts in the late spring- early summer- whenever you have thunderstorms you can run into that kind of rotational cell that produces them. the mountains seem to protect against that to some degree. flat land is more prone to damage caused by these storms. i have only seen 2 tornados in my life and those were at sea (water spouts) they are less intense because they suck up water and not debris. still pretty spooky when you are 50- 60 miles from the coast. hugo caused major damage in my area, about 500 miles from land fall. but i would not think you would need to worry about that. with weather, you really can't predict what may happen but i hear that kentucky is a beautiful place to live.

Do not worry abt tornados, they r not that common to KY, it might be area wide in midwest. winters are not that bad, usually around 30 degrees low at most. u will be fine with good jacket.
