I need to know the pros and cons about MySpace to help me decide whether or not to get one. Also I need to know what type of information you have to enter to get an account.

It is probably safe if you don't use your name or address, or any personal information that someone could use to find you. Most websites will accept vague information. They require your e-mail address, and you should use an e-mail account that you didn't reveal your actual name or address on, because some people know how to hack into those, maybe I am paranoid, but it is the safest way to do it. Also I seen something on the news about a guy who was stalking a girl just by reading her posts and her friends and the dude figured out how to find her from that, so just be careful what you post, and you should be safe. Also some people put a different birthdate and location on their profiles as a precaution.

I agree with most of these guys.
MY SPACE RULES!
As long as you do use it safely.
I just heard about a person I grew up with here in my hometown who is now in PRISON for sexual relations with a 14 year old whom he met on myspace! So, it can be dangerous, if you meet up with these people who you don't know, or if you are under 18.
I don't think myspace should really be available for people under 18.
Like someone else mentioned, there are many adult ads on there, but there isn't much spyware.
It's all in what YOU DO on myspace.
Like others said, keep private. You can keep your profile on private so no one can see your page unless they are your friend.
And, you don't have to enter your real name, age or address.
So, if you aren't comfortable doing so, DON"T!
Other than that, I LOVE IT!
I got caught up with old friends I haven't talked to in years!
Also, get updates on everything and anything and it can become very addicting.
I am all for it!
HAVE FUN, but BE SAFE!
PEACE!

Cons:

Some people just don't think twice about putting their information down(address, phone number) thinking it's MANDATORY but it's not. They end up getting stalked and raped

Pros:
You may come across a real celebrity's myspace profile

You can keep in touch with your old highschool mates(whether you were friends with them or not)

Side note: It's ok to use a fake name, I do, just use common sense and don't put down your address and phone number. The people who love you don't want to bury you in the next year. We all want you to live to be 300. Get my point?

Myspace isnt dangerous. What makes it dangerous is what you do with it and who you make contact with. You just have to enter your name, age, email ..stuff like that. Just dont put any personal information on it like things that could give away your location or whereabouts. its also addictive especially if your into HTML and all that

MySpace is bad because they can find you wherever you live. They can look up your place of residence and all your information is public.

it's not the site it's what you post

the information you give to open the account is not posted ( they note what IS PUBLIC and like all such sites you can LIE and that of course is the danger you don't know who you are chatting with
just like my profile here )

i wouldn't recommend MySpace, I used it and all the ads are adult ads, it's either girls in bra or sexy girls in the ads. personally i don't feel safe when a web site host ads like these, they look fishy and makes me feel like there could be spywares on their web page.
