Hi, I use to start DT on the JV football team, but I am benched now because I am too small and got manhandled last game. I am 5'9 inches and 165 pounds. I eat ALOT and weightlift but can't add on weight. (I studies bulking and such). What should I do? Should I give up and try linebacker on varsity next year?

Eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and work out everyday after school. PB and J are high in protein and calories. If you want to go the more expensive rout use protein shakes, I recommend vanilla ones they taste the best. Make sure you do cardio and weight training. For playing DT concentrate on leg press and bench press to push those fat OL out of the way. Work your hamstring too to help with your jump off the line, I was 5ft 6in 190lbs playing DT and second team all conference, getting a fast jump off the ball really helped me.

Dont spit, Stay in very compfortable clothing (temerature) You dont want lose any bodily fluids. Eating more is not always the answer. For me I will lose weight if I eat more. It is a metabalism thing. Try eating huge meals right before bed. Then your body is inactive when digesting. Try talking to your personal physician. They should be able to tell you what would be most effective for you. Also remember that working out, turning fat into muscle, will cause a weight change too.
