Let's see,
I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained
she didn't want any prayer in our schools.
And we said, OK.
------------------
Then, someone said you better not read the Bible in school,
the Bible that says
"thou shalt not kill,
thou shalt not steal,
and love your neighbors as yourself,"
And we said, OK...

There are too many people that get "offended" at the thought of GOD at school. We just "can't" teach our children right from wrong...or that we must live our lives so that it's worthy of GOD. Schools are ridiculous nowdays. And it's just gonna get worse...

I agree that God should be allowed in our schools but the question is to what extent there is a fine line now days.
Also I think the system of parenting is the majority to blame now days you cant even spank your kids without getting turned in for abuse Maybe if the system would lighten up on this these shooting would have never happened because these kids wouldnt have been out of control.
Also I think the government is to blame they never fund the schools enough if they would give schools the funding they needed the schools could get the security they needed to protect the children.
So instead of putting blame on the separation of church and state lets really put the blame where it lies and that is with the parenting I mean honestly where were the parents when all of this started how well did they discipline thier children and the govt where is the funding that these schools need to protect the innocent children, my children!!!?????

I really don't think it boils down to religion but rather extremely poor parenting, too many guns available to disaffected teens, and the willingness to commit extreme violence.
I am a high school teacher in a small, very normal farm community in CaliforniMF However, even here I see kids who are troubled because they're going back and forth between divorced parents, they have little respect for people older than themselves and who have obviously already gone through all the troubles they're currently dealing with, and a feeling of hopelessness, as if there's no point in growing into an adult in such a troubled world.
Recently, in teaching a novel, Lord of the Flies, I asked a philosophical question (what is the nature of mankind based on the philosophical thoughts of Thomas Hobbes or Jean Jacques Rousseau.) About 90 percent agreed with Hobbes - - that mankind is basically evil and needs controls to keep society from turning savage. I bet even 10 years ago, many more students would have agreed more with Rousseau. It made me kind of sad to realize these 16 year olds are so cynical about humans.
Regarding hotrod's comment that teachers and other school personnel should have guns - no way! Can you imagine if one got stolen or wrestled away from the teacher? It's sheer idiocy!

The biggest problem is the government runs the schools. There is no accountability. Private schools can run on a fraction on what we spend on government run schools.
The liberals used the phony seperation of church and state doctrine that is not in the Constitution to go after prayer in school. Read the First Amendment because it states the government shall not establish a national religion nor stop the free exercise thereof.
By not allowing a person to pray, they are establishing atheism as the national religion. Plus it violates free speech. We know that the more liberal you are, the less likely you want to allow speech that does not agree with your views.

It's not because they aren't allowing 'god' in schools, it is what happens out of school...tv violence, the desensitizing and parents not having or taking the time with their children..it's many things but religion doesn't belong in schools..there are many beliefs and what you listed above only covers one. If they wanted to teach an ethics course that would be cool, but it has to do with being a good person not what higher power they believe in.

properly, in France for one, pupils attend college on Saturdays and characteristic Wednesdays off, and that they often have not got after-college jobs. they have longer hours, greater complicated classification schedules, and quite a few different greater hours of homework in comparison the the common American college. In Japan, faculties are stricter; the final inhabitants is greater well mannered than many of the human beings i understand here. they might desire to take assessments so as to get into intense college-- that way, they're truthfully desirous to pass, no longer being "forced." in assessment to the stereotypical lazy American, different international locations have greater advantageous strategies of elevating their babies to pay interest in college and subsequently actually make the pupil inhabitants greater smart using greater advantageous concentration and truthfully interest in subjects. We purely might desire to enhance the bar and strengthen coaching strategies.. maximum severely, we would desire to strengthen our morals. greater suitable than the different usa i can think of of, maximum human beings are greater worried approximately earning funds than getting a top high quality coaching or truthfully enjoying what they do.

They didn't teach the SMH guy (who asked this question) how to spell or construct a sentence. To reply to his question though, I can offer this: if you think God being allowed in schools would solve the problem, why is God, when allowed into the prayers by, to, for and from soldiers in Iraq, not saving their a.s.s.e.s?

I think the problem is that too many people in American society look to god for help and the disadvantaged to blame.
If more schools tried to teach people to think and to accept responsibility themselves for what happens, then everyone would be a lot better off.

wait... what? Are you saying the problems at american schools are caused by the fact that religious practice is not allowed? SO... is it that if "G/d" were allowed in schools all the problems would never ever have existed? If so... whoa... i disagree
