Well, just because he thinks you're cute doesn't necessarily mean he wants a relationship. You should talk to him and work out what you both want. He could have just said you're cute in a purely platonic way.

It depends what age you are at. If he thinks your cute, it means he is noticing all of you. If you have been friends since childhood he is getting older and maturing and noticing women. If he doesn't come right out and say he is interested in dating you, the sister and brother connection likely won't be broken.

Guys are a lot different than girls. It seems to me that girls thrive on health emotional relationships. However, when guys experience an emotional relationship with a girl, they sometimes find themselves wanting more. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's just a horn-dog. But it's not unnatural for him to want to take your relationship to the next step.
You have to decide if you want to grow your relationship in that direction and if you're ready to start that growth now or not. If you're not sure you're ready, it doesn't me you can't be this guys friend. But it will require a lot of responsibility on your part. Considering that you are the emotionally stable one in this relationship, you'll have to take control and regulate the relationship, because he probably won't be able to. Just remember not to abuse your power over him and try not to hurt him. It might be a good idea to talk to him and explain that you're not ready for the relationship to go deeper, but that you truly want to continue to grow your friendship.
If you do decide to develop this relationship to deeper levels... name one of your kids after me... lol -JT

I have been in a relationship like this. Me and this guy were friends for about 12 years. He said he liked me like a sister. I liked him as in a boyfriend and I told him how I felt and we started going out. If you like him back, then go out with him. It depends on how strongly you feel for him as your brother. Are you interested in dating him? If so then I say go for it.
