Socialism has been proven, beyond any shadow of doubt, to be an utter and complete failure.

Capitalism is the only hope for the world. Only through free markets can the beleagured masses of the world hope to rise beyond their pathetic lot.

Not really, because people are just not that altruistic, and taxes in socialist systems are just too much. Pretty soon everyone gives up working and just lines up for the government check which they get whether they work or not, and the whole economy falls into the toilet. Viola! Then you get Cuba and North Korea.

I assume by "liberalism" you mean the traditional economic liberalism of free markets.

The answer is no. Socialism has failed every time its been tried.

We cannot have pure socialism and we cannot have pure capitalism. Both need absolute power from a father figure to survive. Both cannot survive with a middle class. However we can have a country with some socialistic and capitalistic ideas and programs.
