if its aluminum wiring check the lugs on the fuse box where the wiring is connected, are junction box usually in the attic. also the fuses have a connection on the bottom and on the side just like a light bulb some times the center of where the fuse goes in and gets too depressed to make contact. a meter can help out a whole lot ,but be careful

You need a continuity tester to test the fuses.

One may be bad but it may not look bad.

In some fuse boxes they have cartridge fuses.

They would cover about 1/2 of the house.

Look for a little handle. Some are marked main & other is range.

From the sound of it, you should not take advise so easily from strangers. Electricity is nothing to play around with. Sounds like you are short fused yourself. Please check the Yellow pages of your phone book. Be safe and have an expert deal with your problem.

The fuse is probably weakest link and likely problem. The fuse could be bad, but look ok to the eye.

If you are sure all the fuses are ok then check and see if any of the outlets are gfc outlets. GFC outlets have built in trips in them that will trip out a whole circuit if you over load them. Most of the time they are located in bathrooms, outside and in kitchens. I also have one in my garage. The outlet will have a little reset button on it that may need to be reset. Reset it by pushing in one side of it.

get someone to check the ceiling space, critters may have damaged the wiring, better yet get an electrician out. Better to be safe than sorry.

you have a lose connection somewhere, start testing for power from the outlet farthes away from the fusebox, and work your way back.
but have someone check the connections to the fusebox first
