Never used glasses before. but nowadays, I can not read something if it is too close or too far. my sight used to be so perfect a year ago, but in the last one year, I notice a slow but gradual deterioration. maybe because I spend 12 hrs a day on computers.

definitely get your eyes checked. find a doctor & go see them. It may not be serious but you never know. Besides, glasses are sexy or you could get contacts. Better safe than sorry! I've been wearing glasses since I was in the third grade, started wearing contacts in the 12th grade. I still wear my glasses but gave up the contacts b/c I think I want Lasik surgery. You only get one pair of eyes!

Since your problems just began during the past year and not gradual and especially since your having Both, nearsighted and farsighted problems I would go to a eye doctor first then if its established only need corrective lenses then can continue with Optometrist. But now make sure not a eye physical problem-make sure eyes are otherwise healthy. Even with 12hrs on the computer I would think(not 100% sure of this) although it can cause eye strain, fatigue but doubtful cause such drastic vision problems and if it did then the eye doctor can give suggestions how to prevent further damage much more than Optometrist. Good Luck and I would not put this off since Vision is so important and wish you Good Luck

People's eyesight deteriorates. An eye doctor is always good to go to even if you don't need glasses. There are some health problems that eye doctors can see by checking your eyes. If it is really bad when using the computer maybe you just need to go to a regular department or drug store and get reading glasses that you can buy off the rack.

Wow 12 hours a day on a computer. Do you use eyedrops to keep them from getting irritated or do you take breaks to look around the room every so often? Get to an Optometrist and get a good check up. Eyes are nothing to fool with. It is best to get things fixed sooner than hearing it is too late. Not sure how old you are, but diabetes changes your eyesight too.

An optometrist will check your vision. If you are over 40 years old, it is an age when farsightedness (not seeing well close up) will usually start. Spending a lot of time doing close up work such as computers can affect your vision. You will probably need to check for glaucoma and other diseases of the eyes, if you're over 40; and this may need to be done by an ophthalmologist.

By all means see a doc. An optometrist is an eye doctor. S/he can take care of this for you. (An opthomologist is a medical doctor who specializes in eyes.)
You could save money by buying reading glasses at a drugstore, but you really need to get your eyes checked for other things, such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes, macular degeneration.
Welcome to the wonderful world of aging.

individually i understand that some eye medical doctors are in simple terms reliable at their pastime, in some circumstances specific they might are turning out to be something incorrect yet I genuinely have had my eyes examined diverse circumstances and often the excellent medical doctors look to take basically a couple of minutes with you. At many optical workplaces if there is an argument such as your imaginative and prescient once you get glasses you may pass in and characteristic your eyes reexamined and characteristic new glasses made based on the shops coverage it quite is often the two freed from charge or fee added money. i could recommend in simple terms getting in and asking what they could want to do if the surgeon, supervisor or optician has any sense of shopper help they must have the skill to artwork something out with you to confirm you're seeing reliable.

If it's just a sight problem an optometrist will probably be fine. However, if you have health insurance sometimes, they will only pay for you to go to an opthamologist and not an optometrist.

You might want to make an appointment to visit an optometrist (eye doctor) for an eye exam.
