Get over to the school of music and sign up for some applied music lessons with a professor of flute or one of their grad students.

Some of the suggestions already mentioned here are good, so I won't re-state them.

Other things I would do is to go purchase a good flute lesson book, based on your current level of playing, and what you want to improve.

I'll list some suggestions:
1.For general improvement and advancement of skills, I recommend the Rubank series. My guess is that you would be in the intermediate level, but also look at the advanced I before you decide which to buy.
2. If you are concentrating on improving one or 2 specific aspects of your playing only, Trevor Wye has a great series of books that focus on various aspects of flute playing. The series is called "Practice Book for the Flute", and has several volumes: I - Tone, II - Technique, III - Articulation, IV - Intonation & Vibrato, V - Breathing & Scales. There is an "omnibus" edition that includes all 5 volumes, but I personally see the individual volumes more often. Here is a link I found where Trevor Wye books can be purchased. http://www.hornplace.com/begfl.html

Look in the local paper of greensheet for people offering flute lessons, check with local music stores to see if they know of anyone who teaches flute lessons, call one of the local high school bands and ask the name of their flute teacher.

If you live in Texas and happen to live close, I teach. Here's a link to my flute page. http://www.brightflutestudio.musicteaching.info

I would put a listing up on the college bulletin boards or go talk to the flute instructor at the school and ask her/ him for a reccomendation. I would also practice, practice practice....the more you practice the better you become.

Practice playing by hear. Tunes that you know from memory and don't have to read off a page. Find songs that YOU like.
That should help you build skills that will come in handy later on.
