Why do people hate people who like Ice Hockey?

I'm sick and tired of people always telling me that hockey is a gay sport. I wish they would just back off and shut up.

For instance, I think some of you willl remember a while back when a (Ronald Reagan true Amarican hero) put out a question, that really wasn't a question, which read,"Ice Hockey is a Wimps Sport, Play a Real Mans Sport Like soccer." People are always attacking me for liking the sport, like I'm commiting a crime. I mean, do they think that nobody has the right to like ice hockey or something? Today while I was at work, someone told me that Ice Hockey was only glorified figure skating.

Layoff !!!!!!!!!! Just let us like our sport and we'll let you like yours.
Also, I hate it when people say our sport is like soccer or figure skating. Ice Hockey is a truly unique sport, one that gets immediately dismissed as soon as it gets mentioned. If more people were to give it a chance, then it would get more recognition. ICE HOCKEY RULES !!!!!!!!!

As you can see, I didn't elaborate on why Ice Hockey rules. You hockey fans are smart enough to know already that Ice Hockey speaks for itself.... It doesn't need worldwide fame to get people to like it.

I see the need to let everybody know that I live near Dallas Texas. I often times believe that being born in northern PA has someting to do with my addiction to the sport. I also need to say that I used the adjective gay because it was the most rescent word used describing hockey, with the attempt of putting hockey down. I have also heard the adjectives, sucks, stupid, weak, boring, and one s like that.

It sounds like the people up north like it, but I can assure you that they hate it down here.

don't worry most people that put ice hockey down is cause they cant skate so that's why they hate the game.

Ah, so if you lay around the house because there's nothing else to do, I guess you could start doing all the housecleaning and start cooking the meals. That will give you something to do. Ice Hockey Camp doesn't sound so bad now, does it? Yes, I have worn hockey skates. They are like wearing ski boots, which I have also worn. I wasn't a sports fanatic, except I did play softball in the summertime in my high school days. How old are you? Maybe you could do exercizes that make you get stronger. That would help with your theater as well. I'm sure setting up props, as you'll get to do as time goes on, will require some muscle. Girls should be strong enough to push a vaccuum. Maybe if you do it this one time, you won't have to do it again. It's already August, so I'm thinking this ice hockey camp won't be but a couple of weeks. But, as long as you are under 18 and living under your dad's roof, he gets to decide everything you do.

I've never heard that before, but maybe thats becase I was born in the early 90's. Hmm...you know I live in Minneapolis and hockey is really big around here. I have never heard that hockey is a gay sport. I used to play hockey when I was little. I love ice skating now. This is starting to get irrelevant...

Sorry to hear that. But, I am one of the few who loves the sport. I wish I knew how to ice skate. I would have played the sport my self. I believe that I would have been one of the best players in the league.
Nothing compares to hockey. There is more skill involved in hockey then any other sport. Soccer does not have a Peter Forsberg or a Martin Brodeur in it. Soccer does not have many great players with so many skills.
I guess they hate it in the south because it's not as cool as bull ridding. NOT!

Hockey is the American Sport.

I don't follow hockey, I'm from California, playing hockey as a kid doesn't happen much here, I only knew one other kid who played ice hockey.
But I don't have anything against hockey fans. I realize in the colder parts of the US it's popular and of course it's huge in Canada.
I simply can't appreciate the game because I didn't play or watch it on TV as a kid whereas I did play and watch baseball, basketb all. and football, so those sports are ingrained in me. Basically, it's a regional/cultural thing.
I'll bet there are more kids playing ice hockey in the SF Bay Area where I live than when I was a kid, because we have the San Jose Sharks and there's a lot more NHL hockey on TV than back in the 70s.
To be honest, I have a reall hard time seeing the puck on the rare occasions I watch hockey.

i don't know where you people live but i hear that kind of stuff all the time about hockey. I live in northern virgina like 20 miles away from DC and i play for my local team. My friends always say hockey's gay or its a dumb sport I HATE THAT AHH they'll never understand what its really like to play hockey

I think alot of people who say Ice Hockey is a wimps sport can't even ice skate themselves. For those who could ice skate and say it is a wimp sport if they would try to play hockey themselves they would find out that how rough the game really is and how fast it is. They would also find out that how much skill it takes to play.
In having a choice I would rather watch Ice Hockey anyday than I would watch Soccer.
Whatever sport anybody likes is a matter of personal preference.

The haters are people who do not understand the sport. It bothers them and they feel stupid, hence hating the sport. Hockey IS the best sport EVER !!! If you have ever played the game, you would understand where we hockey lovers are coming from. The speed, reactions, skill, vision, strength and everything else you have to possess is infectious. I LOVE HOCKEY !!!

p.s. I was born in the Phillippines and now live in Phoenix AZ. I didn't grow up playing it. I figured this out in my early 20s. Best sport ever. Enough said.

I am not going to be as bad as those people who say that others favourite sport is gay or stupid and im going to do it the sophisticated way and say that hockey is the best sport.......on ice. Some people who like watever football or basketball then let them like it but if they are going to say bad things about other sports then screw them. even though there arent many of those freaks. Hockey is the most team oriented team that there is, soccor is good that way too. in basketball a team is considered good if they have one star player in football all orients are important they need spread out talent. some teams have a couple great players but their teams suck. HOCKEY RULES IT IS (IN MY OPINION) IS THE BEST GAME OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!

I live in Tampa and have no interest in the sport. Football is o.k. and I LOVE BASEBALL, but hockey is just too boring. Over the years the lightning, they do not deserve capitalization, has drawn fans here. They are all of our snowbirds who did not return to their true home. The natives here could care less about hockey. Not one person in my large family or any of my friends pay any attention to the sport. Someone gave me tickets to a lightning game once and it was one of the most boring nights of my life. I left after an hour or so. They offered me tickets again and I declined. I think it is a regional thing.

I have never in my whole 43 years of life hear anybody say that hockey is gay. Obviously you are not from Canada. Up here its the opposite, if you don't like hockey then people think that you are strange. Up here there is no question at all that hockey is the best sport there is. Go 'nucks!
