12pm is commonly referring to 12 noon. Actually noon and midnight are neither am or pm. I recently looked this up as the result of a discussion with friends who all had differing opinions.

12 pm is daytime...at night just after 1159 pm comes 1200 am...after 1159 am comes 1200pm..to avoid this confusion people at this time say 1200m but not everybody is in that mood..hope i helped...good luck
