Most of the complaining Neocons have never been out of the County or off of the farms where they live. They just want World domination and have no experience at running economy's. The trickle down never trickles out of the Republicans pockets either. They never learned how to share as children.

That is a great illustration: The more they seem to help people the better they do. They have more Mexicans than whites.
Yet they pay more taxes than any other state. Have greater benefits than any other state. Mexicans work hard, save their money and own really nice homes. They are dependable workers because they like making a descent wage.
They are not lazy or live on welfare. They are hard working and drive nice cars. I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley.
Moved to the mid west when we retiried.
I hear these stories about they come to live on welfare that is simply not true. They use to work all day in the fields in the hot sun long after the white workers stopped and went home.
I use to feel sorry for them. But growing up and living in California I know what wonderful people they are and it hurts me to hear such bad stuff. When we went to Texas, which has a lot of Mexican people they treated us so kind.
Oklahoma which is a Republican state is so poor and has no state help for anyone. It is if you want it you earn it.
We have no free lunches. All people who live in Ok don't agree with that, but those are the rulers. It is the bible belt and it is the rich religious organizations that are so If they want it let them earn it. What ever happened to helping the poor?
Why are the most religious the most tight fisted? Why are the most religious the poorest? Why are the so called heathens of California the most prosperous, and the most generous?

Now, with Schwarzenegger, as governor, California is deeply in the hole with all of his bond issues. It will take about 3 generations of Californians to pay back the loans with all the interest you have to pay with bonds.
As for the hole we got into you can blame Pete Wilson and his cronies at the White House for that.
He kept putting the Deregulation of power on the ballot, promising that prices would go down and it would open the market for competition. He had it put on the ballot so many times and each time it failed he made it look sweeter. Finally it passed and it did nothing but open the floodgates to the big Texas energy companies like Enron that charged the people of California huge rates and drove our state into bankrupcy.
Thank you Pete Wilson.
When Dick Cheney was asked what California should do his answer was " They should cut the power."
How calloused and inhumane can one drunkard Nazi be?

Very powerful observation! The only thing Democrats do much differently is make more essential provisions for the people when they need it. California is very much into helping people help themselves. They have a state funded disability program, which everybody pays into. It used to run on a profit, too. I am not sure now since the bankruptcy and Arnold took over. You are absolutely right about the power behind the economy of Ca. 3rd in the world is phenomenal!!

Sorry partner, I am a liberal who moved out of that state not long ago. The crime rate is high, the state budget is fought over all the time, housing prices are astronomically too high for the average person there, wages are going into the cellar, and the state government always has its hand in your pocket for one thing or another. These days you are either a criminal or a cop there. I was born and raised there, but will never go back. Moving out of that craphole was the smartest thing I have done in a long long time. There was a time when I couldn't envision living anywhere else. Times have changed for CA, and not for the good.

America pays Californians (and thus the State of California also; in taxes) an immense amount of money in exchange for their entertainment services.
But do remember that Arnold Schwarzenegger replaced an early removal of his predecessor because California was going through very difficult financial problems. To my understanding, those financial problems continue to plague that state and erode the governer's image.
So I wouldn't exactly say that California is the ideal economic model. But the value of beach front property and the power of genetically engineered crops with all of that California sun certainly works in their favor too.
Now concerning the south, look to Texas for substantial evidence of growth, especially in Houston. But other southern states aren't very keen on either educated or free markets; among other things, labor unions, lack of competition, and other problems are collectively crushing their economic potential.
While I'd like to be clear that I'm not saying that the Republicans have the solutions for economic success, the socialistic ideal of communism clearly set the record straight concerning its long-term economic instability and its impotence regarding the standard of living for the average citizen ("worker").
PS: In response to the high standard of living of liberal countries/states (BTW, Oslo, Norway ranked this year as the most expensive in the world), demand is only one factor in increase the standard of living. Taxes and bad traffic congestion are both top factors. Taxes raise the cost of all goods. Ugly commutes increase the demand for housing close to work (i.e. within the borders of the space-limited city). No one can possibly that the commutes in LA, DC, NYC, etc. are all hellish. There are a great many other factors for high cost of living, and economic strength is implied by any of them. In fact a truly strong economy would allow assets (incl. real estate) to be allocated in the ways which minimize the cost of living and the costs of all other things too.

Take a poll on the political affiliation of the businessmen and women of the state, especially in the management tiers - dramatically Republican. The companies they run are the economic powerhouses of the state.
Second reason hinges on one word - population. Its massive.
But neither of these speak to the health of the economy. In reality, while large, the CA economy is a house of cards due to the mounting extreme pressure of the cost of social programs for the poor and illegal masses. If Grey Davis was still in, you wouldn't be so glib.
Plus you have nice weather and wine ... and everyone likes that!

Good point.
If California were a sovereign nation (not a bad idea) it would have the 7th. largest economy in the world.
As a life-long Republican when I think of what the degenerates who have hijacked the party for the last 26 years have contributed to the U.S., I come to the conclusion that country in general has had quite enough of bloated profiteers and politicians, smugly riding as luxury cruise passengers on the Ship of State as it plows through a sea of the blood of its misused soldiers and innocents, its sails taught with the wind of the foul breath of deadhead deviants and Jack-christian servants of Satan.
Lets have a more liberal Federal Government for a few years, and quit going to war for control of opium fields and oil.

AND to add to your question. why is it states / countries that are the MOST liberal always seem to have the highest home prices / cost of living, and standard of living. Look at California, New York, Massachusetts, Illinois, Switzerland, France, most all European countries. HUMMMMM could it be that more people want to live in a society that treats them with respect and makes the feel as if they are valued and that they have freedom to do as they please? NAAAAAAAAA those would not be liberal values at all now would they?
