Really depends on the age of the daughter and the lie????

I mean, is she pre teen? Teen? Adult?
What is the reasoning behind the truth coming out? Guilt? Or was she about to be found out?

I guess if she was young enough to "not really know better" and guilt made her tell the truth I would be a little more lax in punishment but let her know the severity of the lie.

Were people hurt in her lie? Point that out.
Was it dangerous for her to lie? Point that out to.

Show her what COULD have be prevented if she DIDNT lie.
But also tell her how you appreciate her coming clean....but would have saved a lot of (pain, suffering, headaches, etc...) if she told the truth sooner.

Set a "rule"...lesser consequences (but still some!) if the truth be told. If there is lies, the punishment is more harsh.

Good luck, thats a hard one to deal with as a parent!

i'm very sorry to enable you understand, yet specific, your husband is having intercourse with different women. He could have not instructed you various lies, and he would not be speaking to her nevertheless. If he referred to as her to tell her to no longer talk with him anymore, why did it take an hour? there are a number of stuff right here that say he's cheating on you. i'm so sorry! you understand the respond, now you need to confirm what to do approximately it.

depends on the nature of the lie, the age of the daughter, and the consequences to others from the lie ... not enough information to formulate a suggestied response

Well, at least give her a little credit here. She did tell the truth. It may have taken her a little longer to admit it but at least she did.

Talk to her, heart to heart. Tell her how terribly disappointed you were for her lying to you, but thank her for coming clean. Hard to give advise when we only have a snippit of the story.

Talk to her ....make her understand that what she did was wrong that you trusted her and now things can change because you can not trust everything from no now....tell her how much that hurts and you want her to promise you that she will never do it again.....punishment it is not the proper action here

understand that the magnitude of the situation was probably overwhelming and she couldn't handle it at her age. The fact that she came forward shows her desire to be truthful, let her know you appreciate how difficult it was for her not to tell and praise her for telling the truth.
