My mothers blood pressure is kicking right now. What can we do to help make it go down...we have no medication or anything because this is the first time it's ever happened.
Thanks for your help, I'm really worried!

To reduce BP for the moment, you can sit and relax with feet elevated and use cold cloths around the neck and forehead. I've also heard that when you eat a full meal and it will slow your system down and lower your pressure during the digestive.

Avoid smoking, caffeine, and sodium.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

I dont know a holistic alternative. You might go to a health food or vitamin store and ask them. You can check Dr. Andrew Weil's website. He is the famous proponent of natural remedies at the University of Arizona in Tucson. I take Lisinopril also in 10 mcg. and my BP is steady. It may be caused by some other medication you are taking. Get another doctor's prognosis. Look up the different BP meds and see their side effects before you visit this doc again.

It depends on what the cause is. If she is overweight, then she needs to lose some with diet and exercise. If she has too much stress, practice some type of stress management. All of these things can take awhile to work, so I would recommend going to the doctor and getting some meds until the other practices become affective for her.
Also, it could be about 50 things that can cause you blood pressure to rise, so definitely go to the doc!

She can use a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, or suck a lemon, either one should bring pressure down, but she really needs to see a doctor and get medicine, high blood pressure can cause a stroke, it is nothing to play with. I do not know how high it it, if it is really high, call par medics. You can also, call an emergency room and ask them what to do, they are usually very helpful

You can get those odor free garlic capsules at a drugstore or health food store. Garlic is known to help lower blood pressure. She should avoid salt and caffeine as well. Right now all you can do is have her rest and drink some herbal tea or water.

She needs to be seen by a doctor. However, diet (especially sodium restriction) and excercise are very important in maintaining hypertension. It will do wonders for your blood pressure by losing just a little bit of weight. Also, if she smokes, stopping can help too.

She needs to see a Dr and get the correct medication. HBP is not something to treat by yourself. It can lead to strokes and heart attacks. Ask the Dr. for a prescription for Norvasc or another med.

Your mom should eat salt-free food. Her children should not bother too much. She needs to relax well. Early morning walk is good for her. A visit to the doctor will be useful to her.

Let her sit or stand, and not lie down.
Get her to a doctor ASAP.
No coffee or cola drinks, minimal salt.
