Not a chance. They will finish third in the division. Their pitching problems are worse than the Yankees plus there will be a major overhaul to their lineup. The front office with finally get rid of Wacko Manny. Schilling has seen his better days. The Yankees will dominate the division as usual and the Blue Jays will once again finish in front of the Red Sox.

The American League is becoming monstrous with talent... there are 8-10 teams who might dominate in the Senior Circuit...so who knows.
As a Sox fan I hope so, and I think they still have a strong nucleus of power, fielding and the strong possibility of quality pitching. No one can figure injuries-- in 2004 the entire rotation didn't miss a start. Injuries hampered them in 2005 and decimated them in 2006. Oddly if you look at their record in 2006 excluding the National League and Tampa Bay they were mediocre.
On the other hand, they handled teams like Detroit and the Mets superbly. They also consistently played well and beat some of the top pitchers in baseball, losing to a LOT of scrubs... they were in fact an enigma wrapped in a barely over .500 winning percentage.
I think the last game of the season summed the year up.... rain-drenched and tired, with Manny wanting to be traded again, the team limped off the field, with all the class they had shown all year, having won a No-Hitter that the umpires had to call early...
God Bless the SOX... if they come in fifth next year... I'll be there rooting in 2008... and 2009... Lord Willing!

i think of its very available that a type of two communities might finally end up sitting out the playoffs. The pink sox are no longer a lock for the two the Al East or Pennant, they're undesirable on the line. yet i doubt that those 2 communities will leave out it i think of the Rays will finally end up falling off becuase of the greater youthful human beings and inexperience and the stress, and the yankees will prob pass out and make a extensive commerce to make advantageous they could make a run.

It's Curt Schilling's last year so the Red Sox will be firing up all cylinders.
I don't care whether they go in as an AL East Winner or a Wildcard, as long as they get into the playoffs.

no i do not.
because the yankees will win the east.
and the central will have the wild card.
all but 1 team in the central is better than the red sox. all but KC.
so any other team can win the central and the wild card from the central.
white sox, tigers, indians and twins are all better

They will win the division IF, and I repeat, IF they get some quality starting pitcher in their rotation and improve their bullpen!! Wakefield is a 500 pitcher, and they should trade him or give him his release. Papelbon should be kept as their closer. Timlin needs to be replaced. Seanez needs to be released. Maybe it's time to trade Big Papi while he is still worth at least a first rate starting pitcher AND a couple of outstanding pitching prospects.
Chow!!

I think they will, because they more than likely won't have to deal with all of tlhe injuries that plagued them much of the '06 season.
