CPA is by far the hallmark and most respected certification of the profession.

After you get a few designations firms stop caring. So the CPA is fine and if you work in a specialized field grab the certification associated with that field. For example, if you work in auditng information systems you would want a CISA, in internal audit the CIA, if you work in investigating fraud the CFE (Cerrtifed Fraud Examiner) is useful.
