Do not let where you live become the socializing or staging area. This can easily become a distraction.
Keep organized notes, use differnt colored folders so your subjects are easily distinguishable. Devote a certain amount of time to studying each night or each week and stick to the schedule. A routine will definately help you.
It can also be helpful to find people with the same study skills. Some people learn more from example, some from listening, some from reading. See which is best for you. Having students you can study with can be a great motivation to succeed.

don't drink, no drugs, make good influential decisions with friends, study at least 2 hours for every hour you're in class... on the weekends try to rewrite or look over your notes... Be sure to introduce yourself to your teacher or make yourself known... they tend to be more helpful when a student makes themselves stick out
