I went to an interview last Saturday at a local Papa John's pizza restaurant. The interview seemed to be going really well, I liked the interviewer ( who I guess is my "would be" supervisor), and he even hinted the hours I wanted to work would actually be perfect for the job he needed to fill. He told me that they would call me at the end of next week if I got the job. So I waited until now. What should I do?

Wait until after the end of next week to call if he doesn't call, but not before b/c you have to give him the time to call.

If he doesn't call, then it is OK to call, but don't ask directly if you got the job. Thank him for the interview and tell him that you are calling to follow up and to see if he's made any decisions.

If it will make you feel better, go ahead and call. I doubt they will know anything though. Usually managers get together and discuss applications and that same day you will get a call to come in for an interview. After that you will get a call back with a job offer/notification they do not need you. You shouldn't want to work at a movie theatre though. The hours suck (they are open till like 2 am) and the managers will want you to work the hours they don't want. You also go home smelling like butter and salt. You get a mix of every sort of person and you will have a lot of rude people that will blame you for the ticket prices, if the movie sucks, if someone is in "thier" seat, etc. If you are really serious then call and ask to speak with the manager on duty. When they pick up say "Hi my name is _____. I applied to work there the other day and I just wanted to know if anyone has had the opportunity to look over my application. Your theatre is my first choice so I thought I would ask before I look elsewhere for a job." etc. Be very cordial and very professional. Thank them for their time and hang up. That should at least give you a straight answer about if you are being considered or perhaps land you an interview. Anyways, good luck!

Did you send a letter to them thanking them for the interview? A letter follow up from an interview always looks very good and shows that you take the initiative and that you are serious about the job. A simple act like that usually makes you stand out from the rest of the crowd. That is the key to any interview. Get yourself to stand out and have the interviewer remember you and like you more than the rest.

A phone call is not going to hurt either. The worst thing that can happen is that they will tell you the job has been filled or that they are still interviewing.

Sure! Give the interviewer a call. Tell him you are really interested in the job, ask if they have filled it yet. If they have, ask the interviewer to keep you in mind for any future openings. Employers always like to know if an applicant is really interested in their job opening, or just job shopping.

Well, unfortunately the words they used was "they would call you at the end of the week IF YOU GOT THE JOB." Sorry, but if that statement is taken literally, they hired someone else. You can certainly call to see if they have already hired someone; if so, thank them for being considered; if not, let them know again of your interest. Even better than calling might be to go in personally.

Give him a call during the day and tell him, "I was just wondering if you'd filled the position yet?"
There's nothing wrong with asking one question. Keep it short and simple. And thank him for his time. It will show that you are very interested and is a good thing. But only one call. Too many calls is just harassment.

ABSOLUTELY.

Its up to YOU to be persistant. I would go in as soon as you can and say: "I haven't heard from you I just wanted to know when you want me to start. I am excited about working here." If they reply in the negative such as.. "well.. we decided on someone else or we still haven't made up our minds" That is when you say: "Well thank you so much for your time.. if you could before I leave.. just tell me why you didn't choose me (not why did you choose someone else) so that I may do better on the next interview?
