There are two possible reasons.
1) The mail server that is used to send email to the address is down for the moment.
2) The mail account of the user is full. If it has exceeded the storage quota.
In any case it is better to try to send after some time. You may consider to keep a copy of the sent mail if you have this problem recurring often.

If you don't receive a return message with an optional explanation, it is more likely that the problem is on the other end.

It would probably be one of these two possibilities:
- their junk mail filter set to high or improperly configured
- they have more than one computer picking up emails from the same account

Well...there could be something wrong with either the email provider or the internet provider...or...it could depend on who's doing the sending. Too many variables to say for sure...but DO contact your internet provider as they may help...
