I just had a baby 6 weeks ago and am afraid there is a tiny chance I may be pregnant again. I want to just take a home pregnancy test but I know they are done by the amount of hCG in your urine. So I'm afraid that if I take one I will get a false positive since I just had a baby. Does anyone know if I would still have hCG in my urine 6 weeks after delivery?

it just depends on your body!! it's possible that you may still have some hcg in your body, but then again, it may not! Get your doctor to check your blood and that way he/she can tell if you are or not because of the level of the hcg!! You could take a test, but it could give you a false positive!! Either you can wait a couple of weeks or get your doctor to draw your blood and check your level!

On the instructions in a pregnancy test kit says if you have had a miscarriage or given birth within the last 8 weeks it can give a false positive.

If you really think you are pregnant a blood test would be your best bet.

This came from a website about hcg levels:hCG begins dropping when the fetus is removed, but will still be present in your blood stream and urine for up to 8 weeks after birth, miscarriage, abortion or stillbirth. That is the average time, however in one of my pregnancies I had positive hpts into the 3rd month after my miscarriage.

Have a word with your doctor and see what your next steps may be. Get another blood test in a week or so to see how your levels are dropping.

Good luck

you probably dont have HCG in your urine still. Go to the doctor and get a blood test done to know for sure if you are pregnant or not
