I pulled a muscle in my back and had to miss my mid-term in my history class. Now my professor says I can only make up the exam during his office hours, which fall during the time of my economics class. I've already missed 2 days of classes, and I can't afford to miss another day of economics, but at the same time I really need to make up this exam... should I fight him and try to get him to move my make-up date, or just suck it up and miss another economics class? My economics professor isn't exactly being nice about this situation either, he doesn't want me to miss any more days.

I would skip economics as long as that teacher is not giving a test, have a class mate take notes so you dont miss anything, or if you have a tape recorder than have your friend record the class, and if you have any questions about that material use the economics office hours to get help. He cant deny helping you during those set hours. Good luck . . . professors can be such jerks sometimes

If you can't make arrangements to do the test at another time (such as at the testing center), I'd say miss economics and get a friend in the class to take notes for you.

You might want to write an e-mail to the economics professor explaining your choice also.

explain the situation to the economics professor and ask if you can have another student either audio or video take the lecture so you wouldn't be exactly "missing" the class; the history professor is already going out of his way (in his mind) so I don't think I'd push him any further!

The university probably has some sort of ombudsman or representative you can talk to about this. You should not have to choose between taking a test and missing a class.

Is the history professor being very strict about it? Can't you talk with him about either taking it a different time, or perhaps getting a take-home test instead?

Doesn't your college have a testing center that you can take the test at? If not, talk to your professor and see if someone else can give you the test, like another professor in the same subject.

Explain that you have another class during his office hours, and most of the time, they understand and are pretty good about it.

Go talk to your counselor. They will sort it out ... I was great friends with mine by the end of college. They are there to help sort out this type of situation! Good luck.
