It is a function of attitude. Doctors enter medicine to help people- Lawyers want a lucrative high paying career. Money vs mankind one might say is the main difference in my humble opinion.

The American Medical Association is pushing medical liablity reform, medicare payment reform, uninsured/access to care, antitrust issues, and education & research funding (some of this research is controversial with the Republican Party) pretty heavily right now. I think there is a perception that a Democratic Congress will be more perceptive to such legislation. But in no sense is it all one way. Many physicians oppose universal health care for instance. But I think there is a mild bias in that the Democratic Party is seen as more physician friendly.
I have no sense as far as lawyers are concerned. I always saw the Democratic Party as a bit more friendly to trial lawyers and personal injury litigation.

Ask Bill Frist (Republican Doctor) and Hillary Clinton (Democratic Lawyer).

I think there are about the same numbers of lawyers on both sides because most congressmen& senators are lawyers. There are only 3or 4 doctors that I can think of.

Don't know about doctors, but I would imagine a large majority of lawyers, especially defense attorneys, are libs. How else could you convince yourself that a cold blooded murderer is actually a victim.

Because doctors are more live to care about someone apart from themselves & care more about helping others than earning money.
