The reason behind be a liberal today is the same as it was in the 60s... unlike anti-Americans, such as yourself, we believe in the constitution.
We don't pick and choose pieces of it to live by.. we stand by and support is completely.
Abortion - Supreme Court ruled it was legal based on a person's 1st Amendment right to privacy over their body.
Prayer in Schools - Supreme Court ruled that based on the 4th Amendment, no public school, being funded by tax dollars, can have a designated prayer time for any one specific religion.
Those are just two examples that the Supreme Court used the CONSTITUTION as the framework law.
I happen to be a liberal because I believe in that constitution.

Yes, they just have middle-men to make deals for them, which is why they need to lie so much during campaigning
Look at the facts, whats the deficit compared to two years ago? We have more FULL time jobs than the Clinton admin had during the dot.com boom. I DO suggest a great read though....you will like it and learn alot about things over in Iraq, Now, and then.
Have a nice day
The insurgency is going to be pumped up due to November elections in a vain attempt to try and get American support against the war. But we can see whats happening daily. The insurgency, however, is aimed mainly at innocent people, like today, with the kidnapping of teenagers, and children, and killing of innocent people trying to run a press station>>> (of ALL sects of religion within that country-that were killed within this press related killing)-which will only deepen not only the peoples of iraqs resentment at their freedoms, and safety being taken away, remember their Vice president has already lost three siblings-BUT-from VERY good sources, the total of iraqi deaths stands at about 50,000....but still, how? And by whom? The peace that will be given effort at maintaining in Iraq, and building infrastructure and economy will only pick up, enliven, and excite, not only the iraqi people to keep standing up for a MUCH better life than they had under Saddams reign, but also, Iran, we will leave alone (outside of fighting off sent terrorists of the innocent, that they wish to control)-and soon too, it is my belief, and an Irani friend of mines, that the younger irani generation will want the same growth and freedoms that will slowly but surely seep into Iraq.
Also, an extremely good book to find out what is REALLY going on over there, and was, is "See No Evil" by Robert Baer....ex CIA

There are some similarities, I'm sure. We have evolved. We are a widely diversified bunch of people. Making general assumptions about a certain group of people is very narrow-minded. I agree with some of the conservative ideals, and some of the liberal ideals.
The USA is made up of 300 million individuals, each of who has their own ideas of the Great American Dream. This dream is not kept within our borders. People from around the world, wish to be here to create their own American Dream. This diversity, is one of the things that makes us so strong.

Not by a long shot. Liberals in the early 20th Century HATED "judicial activism," ........... because it was always the conservative members of the Supreme Court who were striking down liberal laws.
Then, by the 1960's, the liberals did a 180-degree turn and decided that they don't like conservative laws so they completely and utterly embraced judicial activism as their favorite way to thwart conservatism.

Nope...the liberals of the past wanted crazy things like voting rights for women and minorities :) Now, we're even crazier, wanting equal rights for everyone. Wow, we've got some nerve. Next thing you know, we'll elect a president who's not a white male!!

Conditions have changed.
A good parameter is yet to be agreed upon, but, no, liberals as well as conservatives have other agendas now.
