I dunno. a high school student enrollment of 12,000?
My high school was 2A and had 1200 students, so I'd say 1200 X 3.......3600 students.

It's based on enrollment and varies from state to state. In Oregon schools above 2500 must be in 6a. Smaller schools have the option of competing at a higher level.

It depends for the size of the state. Obviously for the big states there are more classes and larger enrollment for each class. Except for Illinois, we have 8 classes (Go Wheaton North Falcons) and we are not a huge state.
