I keep getting this blue screen of death.
*** Hardware Malfunction***
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: ParityCheck / Memory Parity Error
*** System Has Halted***
I have done a lot of research into this error about my memory chips, and still lost.
I have replaced all my ram ecc chips, "expencive option" 4Gb, and still get this message.
I have even thought it was the system memory, but compaq says that its not a problem of the Proliant Server series.
I am lost!!
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem.
Help much appreciated.

I have also tried using the least amount of ram and changed slots everytime i get the error message.
If never happends at start up, happends just when accessing a drive over the network or installing large files.
I have blown dust off the motherboard and ram slots.
As for accessing the BIOS using F10 to access the system partition utilities, the machine tells me that "the system partition utilities are not available on this system"

Thank you to all that have gave advise.
I have corrected the problem. After 2 days searching the internet i found a site that lets you download Compaq SmartStart for Servers, Which deletes everything on the server and lets you re-install BIOS, Arrays and system config.

Cheers everyone. :-))

Go into the manual on the Compaq and find how to get into the BIOS. ( Something like hit F11 on boot ).
In the BIOS, check your settings on the ram - timings, parity enable or dissable, ram speeds, overclocking speeds, ram timing speeds, whatever. I suspect that your BIOS settings are wrong or corrupt -
If this does not show you the problem, download and run the BIOS FLASH update, to refresh your BIOS settings.
Sometimes you can slow down the timings, turn off PARTIY checking etc. and see if this stabilizes the problem.
Also - your power supply can be overloaded, or just clogged with dirt, and is starting to put out unreliable voltages. Your ram is VERY sensitive to voltage fluctuations and would generate errors if the power were not adequate. Check you CPU heatsink and fan as well as that of the power supply. Look on the motherboard and the power supply for capacitors that have buldged tops or split tops or liquid leaking from the bottoms - a sign of over-stressing the power supply rails..

good luck

It may be that you have a corrupt BIOS. I'm assuming that this happens at startup, and either during the memory test or when Windows is starting and doing it's hardware test.
Either way, the memory test is failing and you have eliminated the SIMMS. The only altenatives are the BIOS, Windows itself, or a hardware malfunction on the mother board. One possibility that comes to mind is the SIMM sockets, might you have a bad contact on one of them?

Another test that you can do is to not fully populate the memory; start with the minimum memory configuration and see if you still get the error. That might help you determine just where the error is coming from. If the mother board has 4 slots for SIMMS, start with just the first one or two. If the mother board allows it, try the other two without the first populated. if you find one set works while the other doesn't, you've identified that it is most likely the Mother board or BIOS.

Good luck,

If you have tested the chips one by one, you obviously have a motherboard issue, is it not warrantied?
