Usually there is only between 2-3 days a month that you can get pregnant, if that's what you mean. You are born with all the eggs your body will ever have, but they don't release until maturity, which is your first mentral cycles. Then once you reach menopause, they don't release anymore either. Sperm can usually stay alive in the vagina or uterus and fallopian tubes for 48-72 hours. So, if you have sex 2 days before you're ovulating, and those guys are in there the first day of your egg release, then... well you can get pregnant. If you are wondering about ovulation cycles, then you can buy special kits for those in most any pharmacy.

Well from what I understand you ovulate for three days so that is the period of time when the egg is decending and then right after that or close to right after that you have your period and you flush it out so it can't be there for more than a week or so depending on your cycle. But I think it's pretty much dead after those 3 days of ovulating.
